30th March 2008 | NEWS | BIG FINISH CD UPDATES
Two of the upcoming Eighth Doctor adventures from Big Finish Productions have had their titles changed. Kidnapped and Vengeance, the two final stories of the current run starring Paul McGann and Sheridan Smith, have been retitled as Sisters of the Flame and Vengeance of Morbius respectively.
The news was announced on the Big Finish website earlier today.
30th March 2008 | NEWS | CHRISTMAS SHORT TRIPS ANNOUNCED
The annual Christmas-themed Doctor Who: Short Trips anthology, published by Big Finish Productions, has been confirmed by two of its contributing authors.
James Moran (author of the Torchwood episode Sleeper and the upcoming Doctor Who episode The Fires of Pompeii) and Jason Arnopp (who regularly contributes to Doctor Who Magazine and recently wrote a Bernice Summerfield story) announced the news on their respective blogs, here and here.
The anthology will be called Christmas Around the World and will, surprising though it seems, be released near Christmas.

26th March 2008 | NEWS | ARTICLE ON DOCTOR WHO AUTHORS
The Times recently ran an article on the writers of the current Doctor Who books, featuring brief quotes from writer and editor Justin Richards. He discusses the tone of the books and the restrictions on the writers, also revealing how long they take to write and how much the writers get paid.
The piece is available at TimesOnline.co.uk.
Additionally, several Doctor Who writers will appear at the Times Literary Festival 2008 - at 2.45pm on Saturday April 5th, Richards will take part in a discussion of the books with fellow authors Terrance Dicks, Mike Tucker, Colin Brake and Stephen Cole.

The BBC's Doctor Who website has posted reviews of recent Who novels, written by schoolchildren: - Mount Pleasant School in the Midlands review Revenge of the Judoon (by Terrance Dicks) - Tiffin School in Surrey review Wishing Well (by Trevor Baxendale) - Somervale School in Bath review Peacemaker (by James Swallow)

23rd March 2008 | NEWS | NEW DOCTOR WHO BOOK COVERS
The covers for the three Doctor Who novels due for release in September have been revealed by the fan website EyeOfHorus.org.uk.
The images from The Doctor Trap by Simon Messingham (here), Ghosts of India by Mark Morris (here) and Shining Darkness by Mark Michalowski (here) were posted on their news page on Friday.

14th March 2008 | NEWS | UPDATES ON RTD'S DOCTOR WHO BOOK
The previously-announced Doctor Who book written by current executive producer Russell T. Davies, with Doctor Who Magazine journalist Benjamin Cook, has been taken on board by BBC Books.
The news was reported by TheBookseller.com, who promise that it will be "illustrated with photographs, Davies' hand-drawn illustrations and script pages" and that it "will provide a look behind the scenes at the family drama, in a collection of correspondence with his friend Cook".
Apparently titled Doctor Who: The Writer's Tale, the book is scheduled for the autumn, and the report is available at TheBookseller.com.
12th March 2008 | NEWS | TEROK NOR EXTRACT ONLINE
TrekWeb.com has posted an exclusive extract of James Swallow's Terok Nor novel, Day of the Vipers, the first of a three-part series set prior to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The extract can be found here.

12th March 2008 | NEWS | STARGATE AUDIOBOOK UPDATE
Big Finish Productions have added information about the availability and pricing of their forthcoming Stargate Atlantis and Stargate SG-1 audio adventures on their website.
The series' executive producer Sharon Gosling explains that they "want to make the series as accessible - and affordable - as possible to listeners all over the globe".
Author James Swallow recently discussed his two contributions to the first series of CDs here at Unreality.
12th March 2008 | NEWS | NEW DOCTOR WHO AUTHOR WEBSITE
Dale Smith, author of several Doctor Who short stories and novels, has launched a new website at DaleSmithOnline.com, which features a preview of the forthcoming novel The Many Hands.
11th March 2008 | NEWS | SHORT TRIPS NEWS
Keith R.A. DeCandido, editor of the forthcoming Doctor Who anthology The Quality of Leadership, has announced on his blog that the book has been approved by the BBC. He also reminds readers that ten of the authors will be available to sign copies at the forthcoming Shore Leave convention.

10th March 2008 | NEWS | STAR TREK BOOK TIDBITS
TrekWeb.com has a positive review of James Swallow's Terok Nor: Day of the Vipers by Jeff Ayers, who scores the novel 9/10. [Link ]
Newsarama.com has posted an interview with author Peter David, discussing the upcoming series of New Frontier comics from IDW. [Link]

9th March 2008 | NEWS | STAR TREK eBOOKS ON HIATUS
Star Trek: Corps of Engineers, the monthly series of downloadable Trek eBooks which launched in 2001, has been put on hiatus by publisher Pocket Books.
The series' editor, Keith R.A. DeCandido, announced the news on his LiveJournal on March 3rd: "The door is open to possibly do more original eBooks in the future - the choice of the word 'hiatus' is deliberate - but for now, the line's taking a break. I'm obviously not happy about it, but all good things must come to an end."
A total of 74 CoE eBooks, and two six-part anniversary miniseries in the same format, have been released over the years. Pocket will continue to offer their other Star Trek products in downloadable form, and previous CoE stories will be reprinted in dead-tree form.
