Jaine Fenn’s Hall of the Ten Thousand brings back my favourite, and my first, audio Doctor/companion team, with India Fisher narrating a story of the Eighth Doctor and Charley. While this team is usually solid, and Fisher does her usual great job of narrating, I found the actual story a bit of a confusing, improbable muddle.

A confusing, improbable muddle

The Doctor and Charley visit a memorial to war dead only to discover that someone is intent on continuing the war. I felt the story spent too much time on unneeded set-up, and not enough time on vital character motivations — who’s behind it all and what their plan is just didn’t make sense to me on the level of plot, character, or plausibility, unfortunately.

Hall of the Ten Thousand (by Jaine Fenn; read by India Fisher) was released by Big Finish Productions in November 2019.
